The Programme Committee of the 25^th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development has summed up the initial results. In 2025, 1,384 people from 24 countries and 29 Russian regions participated in the conference, with 335 of them delivering presentations.

As part of IPW-2025, representatives of the School of Economics and Management (SEM) and the School of Computer Science, Physics and Technology (SCPT) of HSE University–St Petersburg discussed joint educational projects and research initiatives with their partners. International colleagues showed great interest in the expertise of HSE University–St Petersburg and a willingness to develop long-term partnerships.

He spoke to the HSE News Service about his motivation for studying in Moscow, how research projects enrich his academic journey, and the role education plays in social transformation.

Researchers at the HSE Centre for Language and Brain used eye-tracking to examine how bilinguals switch between languages in response to context shifts. Script differences were found to slow down this process. When letters appear unfamiliar—such as the Latin alphabet in a Russian-language text—the brain does not immediately switch to the other language, even when the person is aware they are in a bilingual setting. The article has been published in Bilingualism: Language and Cognition.

HSE University has hosted the Career Gambit student festival organised by the HSE Chess Club. The festival offered a unique platform for dialogue between students and prospective employers. Participants not only enthusiastically developed their game strategies but also engaged in discussions about careers and real employment opportunities. It turned out that playing chess is not just an intellectual competition but also an opportunity to connect, network, discuss professional interests, and explore future collaboration from a fresh perspective.

According to estimates from HSE University, Moscow leads in the number of charging stations for electric vehicles in Russia, while Nizhny Novgorod ranks first in terms of charging station coverage, with 11.23 electric vehicles per charging station, compared to 14.41 in Moscow. The lack of charging infrastructure is one of the key factors limiting the growth of the electric vehicle market. This is stated in the study titled ‘Socio-Economic Aspects of Introducing Electric Vehicles in Commercial Transportation’ conducted by experts from the Institute of Transport Economics and Transport Policy Studies at HSE University.

The HSE Moscow campus held a meeting with Enrique IgnacioFerrer Vieyra, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to the Russian Federation. HSE Vice Rector Victoria Panova, Academic Supervisor of the School of International Regional Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs Olga Volosyuk, and Head of the International Partnerships Office Ksenia Shevtsova took part in the meeting. The parties discussed opportunities for expanding academic cooperation, including student exchanges, translation projects, and joint research initiatives.

On May 30, Zenit Football Club Day was held at the small hall of the HSE Cultural Centre. Representatives of the club Kirill Lata, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board on International Affairs, and Irina Lebedeva, Head of the Strategic Marketing Department, met with students and university staff. They discussed the specifics of football marketing, FC Zenit, and the career opportunities it offers.
